Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.
Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.
The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
