A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 victories at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

His retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
